Background
The National Youth Commission will be sending twenty (20) young cadres to participate in the ASEAN Young Leaders Training Program from October 11 to 31, 2010.
The ASEAN Young Leaders Training Program is a key program launched by the All-China Youth Federation with the aim of enhancing friendly relationship between China and ASEAN countries and promoting the friendship and mutual trust of the young generations. During the three-week program, the attendees will learn basic Chinese language; study Chinese history, culture, politics, economy; visit enterprises, governments, schools, communities and rural areas in Guangxi and Beijing; and interact with Chinese youth.
Venue and Date
The event will be held in the Nanning, Guangxi, and Beijing, China from October 11 to 31, 2010.
Participant’s Eligibility
* Filipino citizen;
* Must be 25 to 40 years old;
* Must be able to communicate well in English both in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills (English is the teaching language);
* Willingness to participate in the discussions and activities
* Physically fit to travel (Physical Examination Certificate is required)
* Must have valid passport six months before the departure date of the program
Expenses
The Chinese organizer will cover the expenses including international flights, as well as tuition, food, accommodation, insurance and cost of organized visits in China. Participants will shoulder their own domestic transportation costs and visa fee.

The application for the
2011 Japanese Government Scholarships is now open.
These scholarships are open to all Filipino citizens. Application forms are available at the JICC Library in Manila, the Consular Offices of Japan in Cebu City and Davao City, or may be downloaded from the Embassy Website:
(www.ph.emb-japan.go.jp/culture/scholarship/index.htm). Deadline for submission of requirements is on May 28, 2010 (Friday).
Teacher Training Scholarship
This scholarship is open to teachers (elementary / high school) or academic staff/members at a teacher training institution wishing to undergo professional improvement in the field of Education in Japan for 1 1/2 years.
Applicants must be under 35 years of age (as of April 1, 2010) and have at least 5 years of experience in their terms of service. University instructors are not qualified for this scholarship.
Applicants will be required to take a compulsory English examination and may also choose to take an optional Japanese Language examination. Travel expenses for the exam will be borne by applicants.

Japanese Studies Scholarship
This scholarship covers a 1-year period of studying Japanese language, life and culture.
Applicants must be between 18 to 29 years of age (as of April 1, 2010) and should at least be in their 3rd year of majoring in Japanese Studies (Language or Culture) in a Philippine university, have good academic standing and proficiency in the Japanese Language.
Applicants will be required to take a compulsory examination in Japanese. Examination will be conducted at the Embassy of Japan. Travel expenses for exam will be borne by applicants.

This scholarship covers a 5-year period of study in Japan for individuals wishing to pursue undergraduate-level studies in the field of humanities, natural sciences or social sciences.
Applicants must be born between April 2, 1989 and April 1, 1994, have good academic standing and completed at least 12 years of formal education or have graduated from a school equivalent to a senior high school in Japan.

Research Scholarship (may lead to a Master's degree or a Ph.D.)
This scholarship covers a 1 1/2 to 2-year period of study in Japan for individuals who are interested in conducting research in a field related to what they have previously studied within the scope of humanities, natural sciences or social sciences.
Applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1976, have good academic standing and completed at least 16 years of formal education. Experience in research work is an advantage.

This scholarship is open to individuals wishing to pursue a 3-year non-degree program at a Japanese vocational school in the following fields: Civil Engineering, Architecture, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Nutrition, Infant Education, Secretarial Studies, Hotel Management, Tourism, Fashion / Dressmaking, Design, Photography, etc.
Applicants must be born between April 2, 1989 and April 1, 1994, have good academic standing and completed either 12 years of formal education or have graduated from a school equivalent to a senior high school in Japan.

21st International Youth Forum 2010

Background
The International Youth Forum began in 1990 based on the special fund created by the Ministry of Sports and Youth of the Republic of Korea in order to enhance youth’s awareness on global issues and friendship.
This year, the National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea (NCYOK) is organizing the 21st International Youth Forum, focusing on the Cairo Agendas which are about the protection of family dignity, world population for sustainable development and public health. During this Forum, the youth from different countries will build the consensus that they have to proactively deal with the protection of family and find solutions to sustainable development of world population. The Forum also aims to strengthen and improve cooperation and mutual interest among youth in the world.
The activities during this event are keynote lecture, section meetings, reporting on researches and activities, case study presentation, group discussion, mock court, general assembly, adoption of a Youth Declaration, friendship evening, study trip and cultural lessons.
Participant’s Eligibility
* Youth between 18 to 30 years old who are interested on the protection of family dignity, world population for sustainable development and promotion of public health of the world
* Youth who are studying in the related field or have experienced relevant works at NGOs or IGOs are preferred
* Must have English proficiency of advanced level or above
* Of good moral character
* Physically and mentally fit to travel
* Must have a passport valid until at least six (6) months after the date of the departure for the program
Applicants without any passport details shall not be considered.

Application closing date is July 9, 2010 (Friday). The selection of applicants will be conducted by the organizing committee and those accepted will be informed within 10 working days from the receipt of the application form.
Applicants need to submit the accomplished application form and English essay (A4 size paper; 1-2 pages; font 12 Times New Roman; and single-spaced). Send the required documents only thru e-mail, ncyokway@chol.com. The title of the e-mail should be ‘Youth Forum Applicants- name of applicant’. Please see attached application and essay form.
