19th International Youth Forum 2008 – Youth Challenges in the ASEM Context

INVITATION LETTER

The National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea (NCYOK) is the co-ordinating body for youth organisations in Korea under the auspices of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, Korea (MOHW). We have been in the forefront of many major youth movements within Korea, having implemented various activities such as youth leadership training programmes, annual international youth exchange programmes and other youth related activities. This year, the National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea (NCYOK) is co-organising together with the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) the 19th International Youth Forum as an international gathering for youth. Recognising the need for a place where young people from ASEM member countries can come together under one roof discussing current issues that affect their lives and those they will lead in the near future, the International Youth Forum has not only allowed many experts to present their views to youth leaders, but also youth from various cultures, setting aside their preconceptions, to discuss the issues at hand.

The 19th International Youth Forum, focusing on the role of Asian and European Youth in tackling global issues through intercultural dialogue, is going to be held from July 15th to the 22nd in Seoul, Korea, co-organised by the National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea (NCYOK) and the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), hosted by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, Korea, in cooperation with the European Youth Forum (YFJ). We look forward to receiving 130 qualified young people to participate in the Forum.

The details of the project, including the invitation, the application form and qualification criteria for the participants as well as the programme of the event, are attached to this letter.

Best regards,

Suk San Kim, MSW, Ph.D.
President
National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea
